Pressure Sand Filters
Pressure Sand Filters (PSF) are used in water treatment and waste water treatment to remove the suspended solids present in the water.
Working Principle
The raw water flows down from the filter inlet through the media bed. The media bed consists of layers of sand and gravels arranged according to size and density. The media bed retains the suspended solids present in the water and the clear filtered water flows through the outlet of the filter.
As per the SOP*, the filter media has to be cleaned periodically using the back wash method.
